Welcome to Didcot Early Nurture Centre (DEN). Here at The DEN , we provide support for Primary aged children with Special Educational Needs.
Whilst attending DEN, we aim to develop skills which have been identified as barriers to learning, where the child will benefit from a short term, small group nurturing approach
Northern House School is working with The Didcot Area Partnership of Schools and their Educational Psychologist, to provide this specialist provision with the help of funding from Oxfordshire County Council.
The DEN Centre is based at Willowcroft Primary School in Didcot. It is staffed by a specialist teacher and two Teaching Assistants, experienced in working in specialist settings.
Staff at the DEN Centre can provide two types of support:
1) Outreach – visits to the child and adults at their school, which focus on developing strategies to use at school
2) Part time Placements – 3 days a week for around 10 weeks at the DEN Centre with the DEN Centre staff
When the children are not at the DEN Centre, they will continue to take part in activities at their own school and receive visits from the DEN Centre staff who will support them in using the strategies they have learnt. This way, the children can practise their new skills in a smaller environment at the DEN Centre, before using them back in the mainstream school environment.
Children attending the DEN Centre will remain on roll at their referring school.
